Mbale-Tororo Road becoming impassable

EDITOR—Many Ugandans are disenchanted with the transport ministry over the appalling conditions of some of the roads in the country. For example, the Mbale-Tororo Road is getting increasingly unmotorable yet the ministry has always been allocated colossal sums of money to work on the roads.

No one knows where one pothole begins and a bituminous patch ends on the Mbale-Tororo Road! All I can say is that this road is a combination of potholes, tarmac, humps and puddles and yet nobody in authority seems to mind!

One does not need to have gone to school to know that a bad road is a hazard both to people and vehicles. The black spots on this road are Munkaaga, Buluche and Kimwanga-Lwaboba stretches.

The Government should come to our rescue because the situation is getting out of hand. Recently, a politician from the area, remarked that potholes are actually good for the motor industry in the country! Reason?

They check reckless drivers on the roads! What a warped sense of humour!
Must we demand for a new district in order to have better roads? Do we need to be pro-NRM or to recall Mowlem Company?
