RUGBY Cranes tactician Ham Onsando had no surprises up his sleeve as he named an experienced team for the Victoria Cup match against Zimbabwe at Kampala Rugby Club tomorrow.

The uganda telecom Kobs stars Allan Musoke, Victor Wadia and Timothy Mudoola who rejoin the Cranes squad after a year’s absence will start the game.

The Kobs’ trio was part of the star-studded squad that won the Confederation of African Cup (CAR) in Madagascar in 2007.

Musoke and Mudoola had retired from international rugby while Wadia was out serving a ban.

Robert Seguya, Ronald Adigas, Moses Soita, Simon Wakabi, Faisal Gama and team captain Mathias Ochwo complete Onsando’s cast of experienced players.

“It’s a good balance between experience and youth. There are many young players in the team but I want to start with experience. The senior players were on form during the league, they actually still have at least three years of international rugby,” Onsando explained.

Onsando expects the senior players to reproduce their league form in the international fixture.

“I don’t think their absence from the international scene is a factor. All my players have been on form in the league and it is current form that I considered,” Onsando said.

The Zimbabweans are already in the country and were scheduled to get a feel of the Kampala Rugby Club pitch yesterday.
The hosts trained from Kyadondo Rugby Club to pave way for the visitors.

The Tri-Nation tournament will see Uganda take on Kenya in Kampala on July 3 and the return leg will be in Nairobi a week later.

The Cranes will wind up the tournament with a trip to Harare for the July 24 tie.

The two sides have met on four occasions, each winning twice. This leaves the tally to two wins and two loses for each side.

Timothy Mudoola, Victor Wadia and Ronald Adigas will be playing against familiar opposition as they were part of the 2003 squad in Harare.
