RUGBY Cranes tactician Ham Onsando is preaching revenge against his home country ahead of the Uganda versus Kenya Elgon/Victoria Cup tie on Saturday.

Encouraged by the doctor’s report that gave all players a clean bill of health, Onsando vowed to bring down the Kenyans in the highly billed encounter set for Kyadondo Rugby Club.

Onsando believes it is time for his country to pay back for the past defeats that have been inflicted by Kenya on Uganda.

“I still have that memory most especially in 1997 when we were walloped 65-8 in Nairobi and it’s time to end that,” Onsando, a Kenyan national, stated.

Onsando also answered his Kenya counterpart, Michael Tank Othieno who said that he is out to win the Elgon and Victoria cups by defeating Uganda in Kampala as a joke.

“Let him try his luck. I have a similar target to humble them home and away,” Onsando charged.

He however expressed worry about hooker Alex Mubiru if he does not pass a late fitness test.

The Cranes will today camp at Sports View Hotel in Kireka while Kenya jets in tomorrow morning.

Nile Breweries, UAP Insurance, Fly540, Coca-Cola, G4S Security and The New Vision Group are sponsors of the Rugby Cranes.

Meanwhile, national women team coach Henry Musoke is puzzled on whom to take up for the scrum half position ahead of the Saturday Elgon Cup tie against Kenya at Kyadondo rugby ground.

Musoke is yet to decide whether to go for experienced Rosenberg Kanyunyuzi or the young, fast and skilful Regina Athieno in the Saturday clash.

The 17-year old teenager proved her strength in the scrum half during the Bamburi tournament in Nairobi where Uganda lost 8-0 to Kenya.

Kanyunyuzi failed to make the Nairobi trip due to busy schedule at work.

“Actually I have not yet decided on whom to field in the position. Kanyunyuzi is back and in good shape but Athieno is equally good,” Musoke admitted.

“I think I will take a decision on Friday but whatever it is, we are out for a big margin victory,” Musoke explained.

Musoke’s team has also been boosted by the return of kicker Rachael Kakaire who took a break after delivery and winger Emma Oroma from an hamstring.
