THE Rwandese ambassador to Uganda, Frank Mugambage, has reiterated his government’s position that the renegade Gen. Kayumba Nyamwasa fled the country because he failed to account for his deeds.

He said a few other army officers and journalists had also fled the country because they were asked to account for their actions.

Mugambage denied that his government was involved in the shooting of Leonard Rugambage, the acting editor of the Umuvugizi newspaper.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Mugambage said: “He posed absolutely no threat. Rwanda is secure, stable and focused.”

He also dismissed reports that Rwandese troops had deployed along the border with Uganda. “There is no security situation requiring deployment of troops on the Rwanda-Uganda border.”
