THE Kajara County MP Stephen Tashobya, says he is in Parliament to stay and those trying to unseat him are wasting their time.

Tashobya claims he has fulfilled his constituents’ expectations, so they will vote for him again.

He said since he joined Parliament in 2006, he has done a lot for Kajara.
Tashobya boasts of having constructed schools, churches and mosques.

He adds he got mosquito nets for residents and ensured that drugs like coartem for malaria, were supplied to all health centres.

Tashobya says he also lobbied for electricity to be extended to Kagarama, Kyangara, Nyamunuka, Kibatsi, Karegyeya and Rwashamaire trading centres.

Tashobya is the chairman of the NRM in Kajara county and also chairs the parliamentary legal committee.

The son of Reverend Elisha Ndyabagyeruka, a retired archdeacon in West Ankole Diocese, Tashobya worked as a transport officer in cooperatives before he joined politics in 2006.

The other contender for the seat is youthful Hamid Kigongo.

Kigongo, who recently left Forum for Democratic Change for NRM, says he is standing on the ruling party’s ticket because one only needs a party card to contest at the primaries.

He believes politicians should serve only one term and then give others a chance. He has pledged to also serve for only one term.

Kigongo says he intends to make Kajara a better place and accelerate its development. His catchphrase is unity, peace and reconstruction.

In his manifesto, Kigongo has pledged to solve the problems of the youth, elderly and women by supporting their income-generating projects.

He has accused MPs seem of not visiting their constituents, a vice he says he will fight by visiting the electorate whenever Parliament is in recess.

Another candidate vying for Kajara seat is the FDC national delegate for Kajara county and former parliamentary aspirant Naboth Baryahaabwe.
