SQUASH - Michael Kawooya will be the centre of attraction in the Nile Gold Squash tournament that swings into action on August 2 at Kampala Club. Kawooya will be seeking to retain his crown for a second year running, but will have to stave off challenges from Brian Okumu, Ian Rukunya and Samuel Kyagulanyi in the sh10m week-long tournament. Organisers are expecting more than 30 participants.

Entebbe race for August 7

ATHLETICS - Over 80 participants are expected to take part in the second edition of the 10km 2010 Entebbe Director’s race due August 7 starting at Muzinga Park. “The proceeds from the race will help support the malnourished children who are yet to start on ARV drugs,” said race coordinator, Richard Mudde. Corporate groups, social clubs, schools and individuals will take part in this annual race.

Bukolooto wins

SOCCER - Bukolooto FC beat Kayunga 2-0 in the highly-attended final match to lift Sazir Cup at Ndeeba PS playground on Sunday. Bukolooto scored in the first half of play through Isima Kyambadde and got the second in last minutes of the game. The winning team walked away with a trophy and a cow while the losers were consoled with two goats. 25 teams from Kayunga sub-county participated in the event organised by Sazir Nsubuga Mayanja.
