A body that will protect mobile phone users from exploitation by telecommunication companies has been set up.

According to Peter Kisitu, the chief executive officer, the Mobile Telephone Watchdog, is a private body that will protect the rights and interests of mobile phone users against manipulation and rip offs by telecom companies in Uganda.

“We shall ensure professional practices in the telecom industry based on business ethics principles and research into the operations of mobile phone companies,” Kisitu said during the launch of the association at the National Theatre in Kampala last week.
