VOTING at the NRM party primaries in Kayunga district was cancelled yesterday for the third time due to lack of election materials.

“We have waited for the materials in vain. We are now waiting for a final communication from the party head office,” said Charles Wandera, the party district registrar.

During an abrupt meeting at the party offices, the candidates asked the electoral officials to reorganise themselves so that the exercise takes place smoothly.

However, angry supporters stormed the party office, demanding an explanation for the cancellation. They said they would not turn up on the day the polls are rescheduled.

The polls were first called off last Monday due to late delivery of election materials to the polling stations, rigging and bribery of voters.

On Saturday, the polls were also stopped when election materials were not enough for the whole district. The materials were taken back to Kampala.
