EDITOR: The health centres in Kasese District desperately need more committed health workers.I recently went to a health centre III on a Monday morning at 9:30am and found many patients in the queue, but there was no medical officer.

The only worker I found there was the cleaner. After 45 minutes a medical staff arrived and the person in charge of the centre came at midday. By midday, there were over 120 patients and only three staff members. The three staff members were also supposed to attend to the admissions and other emergencies, including the labour ward.

The clinical officer prescribe drugs for me, but when I went to the pharmacy, the stock was out. I appeal to the Government and the local authorities in Kasese to monitor the operations of the health units.

These health centres become dysfunctional when there are workshops for health workers. Some centres close for the workers to go and attend seminars. Some one help us.
