Five arrested over child kidnap

THE Police yesterday recovered a three-month-old baby boy kidnapped from Wakiso district on Monday afternoon. The alleged kidnapper, Charles Ssimbwa, a secondary school teacher. Also arrested with Ssimbwa were his wife, Mariam Naziwa, and sister, Carol Namazzi are under arrest.

THE Police yesterday recovered a three-month-old baby boy kidnapped from Wakiso district on Monday afternoon.

The Police also arrested the alleged kidnapper, Charles Ssimbwa, a secondary school teacher. Also arrested with Ssimbwa were his wife, Mariam Naziwa, and sister, Carol Namazzi. Two other people arrested in connection with the case were not named.

According to Moses Binoga, the Police anti-human sacrifice and trafficking boss, Ssimbwa kidnapped Fahima Lubega, the son of Ahmed Lubega and Faridha Nantongo, from Masajja in Wakiso district and asked for a sh4m ransom.

He was arrested while trying to withdraw the money from an ATM at Kasangati Equity Bank. The ransom money had been deposited on his wife’s account.
