EDITOR: The decision by Prof. Katunguka Rwakishaya and the Makerere University Senate to halt postgraduate studies at the School of Education is timely.

Students pursuing a master's degree in curriculum studies, philosophy and arts, have in most cases, similar study modules.

At the end of the course there is duplication. However, it was not right for Makerere to have admitted new students this academic year. These students have now been unnecessarily inconvenienced.

As Makerere Senate make a strategic review of the School of Education courses, they should take into consideration the changing trends, in education delivery systems in Uganda today.
