LOW supplies of matooke, Irish potatoes, beans, fish, fresh milk and bread have caused food inflation rates to increase, according to the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS). UBOS indicated that food prices rose by 3% in September.

LOW supplies of matooke, Irish potatoes, beans, fish, fresh milk and bread have caused food inflation rates to increase, according to the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS). UBOS indicated that food prices rose by 3% in September.

The statistics body yesterday released the consumer price index for September, saying the cost of living is still going up, although the rate at which it is rising is low.

The director of macro economics, Dr. Chris Mukiza, said, as a result of the low rate, the cost of living was likely to come down. Mukiza said although food prices have risen, the rate at which they rose declined by 9.5%.
