Jiggers are just a simple problem of poor hygiene

EDITOR: I would like to commend the deputy speaker of parliament for her commitment to fight jiggers in Bugiri district. According to media reports jiggers have killed over 10 people in Bugiri! Jiggers may be related to poverty but I blame it more on hygiene.

If politicians in Busoga care about their voters then they should teach them how to keep clean to avoid jiggers. I don’t think this is too technical to handle. This too goes to the opposition politicians who have already started pointing accusing fingers at the Government.
If the wars in the different political parties as they choose flag-bearers for the coming elections are about the interests of the people and not selfish ambitions then the politicians in Busoga don’t need to be told what to do.
They should save the people from dying so that there will be voters to vote them back into office next time instead of struggling to buy votes at the last minute.
