EDITOR: I write to disagree with Augustine Ruzindana's view in the local press in his article, "Jiggers attack is a telling story of 25 years of NRM".

EDITOR: I write to disagree with Augustine Ruzindana's view in the local press in his article, "Jiggers attack is a telling story of 25 years of NRM".

The motive in his article is presented in bad faith with a personal agenda to water down what the NRM government has achieved in the past 24 years.

He totally blames the poverty of Ugandans on the rule of one President as if the affected areas are so uncivilised as to fail to maintain basic hygiene to avoid jiggers. He does not mention anywhere that poor hygiene is the real cause of the jiggers.

Ruzindana, creating an impression that jiggers are a resultant factor of the NRM's 24 years in power does not put the party on the verge of decline. The article does not help the affected group to deal with the problem at hand.

The people in the districts of Jinja, Bugiri, Iganga, Kaliro, Kamuli, Mayuge, Luuka, Namutumba and Budiope should be sensitised to work towards maintaining cleanliness in their homes and keeping personal hygiene.

They should be sensitised to clear their false beliefs and misconceptions about the causes of jiggers being witchcraft, and bad omen.
