THE Coke rugby 7s Independence Cup battle is due in Jinja today with national champions St. Mary’s College Kisubi out to dethrone Kenyan rivals Kakamega High.

Kisubi, who went down 12-7 to Kakamega in the 2008 final, said another defeat is unthinkable.

Kisubi’s determination to make up for the defeat prompted the school’s administration to lift the ban normally imposed on sports activities during the third term.

The ban, in place to allow students concentrate on academics, was relaxed to allow the rugby team prepare for today’s action.

“We are out to add it to the national 7s title,” games teacher Ronald Mutebi stated.

Kisubi’s domestic rivals Hana Mixed school are also strong contenders for the crown.

A Rwanda select side is also expected to compete.
