A city court on Friday issued an order stopping the July 11 bomb suspects from accessing visitors on court premises.

The order followed an application by Joan Kagezi, the senior principal state attorney.

She informed court that about 100 people visit the suspects at the court. Kagezi noted that their interaction with the suspects was making the work of security personnel more difficult.

She suggested that the visitors of the accused instead utilise visitation days granted by authorities in Luzira Prison.

The court also issued another order barring the suspects from holding communal prayers.

“The accused should be able to pray individually. Freedom of worship does not mean praying communally,” said Deo Sejjemba, the Chief Magistrate of the Nakawa Court.

The suspects will also now take one month before they are produced in court.

Prosecution had informed court that the two-week period that the court has been granting was too short for prosecution to carry out meaningful investigations.

The suspects face charges of terrorism, murder and attempted murder. They are alleged to have caused the death of over 70 people at Kyadondo Rugby Club and at Ethiopian Village Restaurant in Kabalagala. Scores also sustained injuries.
