COL. Walter Ochora-Odoch has been nominated to run for the post of Gulu LC5 chairman under the NRM ticket.

The colonel wasted no time in promising to re-establish links with the American government, the international community and the International Criminal Court (ICC) to support the UPDF in the hunt for the LRA leader, Joseph Kony.

Like other candidates, Ochora was told not to start open campaigns until they submitted their official campaign programmes to the Electoral Commission.

Meanwhile, Ben Acellam (FDC), who crossed from the NRM recently, was by 2:00pm yesterday still locked up in a closed-door meeting with the district registrar to try and sort out his supporters’ nomination papers and signatories.

Acellam said the EC officials had messed up his papers after he had cleared with them on Wednesday.

“I spent the whole of Wednesday in the offices of the EC sorting out my nomination papers.”

The EC registrar, however, said Acellam’s problem could only be sorted out if he went back to the villages to raise more signatures.
