IN Kyegegwa district, John Byamukama Kisoke has been nominated as an independent candidate to compete for the LC5 chair in next year’s general elections.

Byamukama, the incumbent, lost in the NRM party primaries to Norman Birungi, who was also nominated on Friday.

“I am loyal to the party, but not to the mess. I am waiting for someone who will tell me that I do not belong to NRM. I do not even want to be called independent because I still belong to the NRM,” Byamukama told New Vision after his nomination at Kyegegwa district headquarters.

In Kyenjojo district, William Kaija was nominated to contest for the district chairmanship on an independent ticket.

He said this was after the mismanagement of the NRM primaries in Mwenge South, where he contested with investment state minister Aston Kajara.

“I want to regain the seat that I lost in 2007,” said Kaija, who is the Kumi resident district commissioner.

In Kabarole district, two more people were nominated for the LC5 seat. This brings to three the number of people vying for the seat after Richard Rwabuhinga’s (independent) nomination on Thursday.
