Men’s div 1 play-off semis:
Canons v Warriors (series tied at 1-1)
KCC v A1 (series tied at 1-1)
THE Kyambogo Warriors are still on course to defend their FUBA championship, heading into today’s Game 3 of their best-of-five playoff semi-finals against the UCU Canons which is tied 1-1.
However, it is by no means a smooth ride for Gad Etau’s team, who have been limping rather than cruising towards the big prize.
The Warriors’ boss concedes his team lacks the fluidity which was a key component of their maiden title-conquest last season. And that is not all.
He doesn’t expect the swagger to return any time soon. From now on, all that matters for Eteu and his men is winning, style or no style.
“It is true that we are not playing well but if you look at our team compared to other teams we have many new players,†said Eteu. “Other teams have been intact for some time but we haven’t. It takes a while for new players gelâ€.
On the other hand, UCU have an abundance of quick ball-handlers, led by the magical Ivan Enabu and have been able to hurt the Warriors when they find their rhythm.
Meanwhile, the women’s semi-finals fixture is real battle of wills with A1 Challenge and the KCC Leopards going toe-to-toe all the way. In this series, the team that has come with more passion has carried the day. In Game 1 it was KCC, Game 2 it was A1. Who will it be today?
