PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has fulfilled his pledge of giving iron sheets to residents of Alebtong district.

Lira district Woman MP Rebecca Amuge Otengo delivered the consignment of 4,000 iron sheets on Monday and handed them over to the beneficiaries.

Otengo said Museveni made the pledge to the churches and schools during his Prosperity for All tour of Lango sub-region early this year.

The beneficiaries, she said, were Alebtong Primary School, Abia Church of Uganda, Abia Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAG) Church, Aloi Archdeaconry, Aloi PAG, Apala Primary School, Apala Women Group, Abia Vocational School, Abongodyang Primary School and Omoro and Amugu women groups.

“By next year, I want to see women development centres established in the all the nine sub-counties of Alebtong district,” Otengo said.

Bonney Okello, the LC1 chairman of Abia village, lauded Museveni for fulfilling his promise, saying a good leader is seen by his commitment and work.

Otengo said she was following up Museveni’s promise to construct a science laboratory at Apala Secondary School.
