YOU may have heard about keyhole surgery, a method of carrying out an operation without having to make a large cut in the body.

Well if you haven’t, the technology operates in such a way that small incisions are done and tiny cameras inserted in the body to work alongside computers as a surgeon monitors and analyses the problem.

The good news is the technology is available in Uganda and is less costly compared to countries abroad. Many people are scared of surgical procedures such as removal of the uterus or appendix, citing reasons such as taking long to recover and scarring. But with the keyhole surgery, chances of complications are lessened.

Today, we discuss where one can have a keyhole surgery and why some major hospitals have chosen the procedure over open surgery (where a big incision has to be made so as to carry out an operation).

In addition, Health and Beauty takes you through piercing children’s ears and what one needs to know before they make the decision. Many parents are quick to pierce their children’s ears, but are not there to take care of the wounds and prevent infections.

We also discuss broccoli, that vegetable that many have ignored, despite its medicinal values, especially preventing cancers.

Through our interactive forum, everyone gets a chance to share their experiences, and gets advice from a team of trusted experts. Send us an SMS (type health, your comment and name and send to 8338), or email: health@newvision.co.ug, Tel: 0414337000 and Facebook (Vision health).
