THE Police in Kibuku district are looking for area MP, Saleh Kamba for defacing opposition candidates posters.

Kamba is said to have pulled down the banner of Inter Party Cooperation, (IPC), Kizza Besigye from the round-about in Kibuku town on Thursday.

Kamba of the NRM also pulled down a banner of Water Minister, Jennifer Namuyangu.

Namuyangu lost to Kamba in party primaries and is now contesting as an independent candidate for the same seat as Kamba.

Witnesses say Kamba first photographed the banners before ripping them off and depositing them at the police station.

Kibuku District Police Commissioner, (DPC), Godfrey Achiria confirmed the incident

A summon was sent to Kamba to answer why he ripped off the posters but declined to respond to it.

“We want him to come and make a statement. We are going to handle him as the law states. It’s not the first case that has been reported against him,” Achiria commented.

The concerns of the ripped up posters compelled FDC chairman Patrick Wakida and Tororo County MP, Geoffrey Ekanya to temporarily break off Besigye’s trail in Budaka to go and make a formal complaint with the Police in Kibuku.

Meanwhile, Besigye continued his campaign in Bukedi and addressed several rallies. He told residents that his Government would successfully fight poverty through re-introduction of marketing cooperatives, starting up a tractor hire scheme at sub-county level, opening an agriculture bank and irrigation schemes.

He also promised to have an overhaul of the education system.

He said corruption had worsened the standard of living for many Ugandans because service delivery is undermined. He said the police force was working in difficult circumstances and was poorly paid which had made it susceptible to accepting bribes.

Besigye addressed rallies in Nammengo, Kamonkoli, Mugiti, Iki-Iki, Kaderuna, Nansanga, Budaka town and Naboa. At all rallies he was joined by journalist turned politician, Gawaya Tegulle who is aspiring to become MP for Iki-Iki County.
