UGANDA Rugby Union (UGU) boss William Blick said he will focus on mending ties with the continental organisation CAR where he was elected as an executive member at the weekend.

Blick was elected on the committee along with his Kenya counterpart Richard Omwela, Gifty Mayers (Ghana), Khaled Babbou (Tunisia) and Gueldel N’Diaye (Ivory Coast) during an assembly held in Ghana.

“It’s a great opportunity for Uganda to be represented and I think this is also good for mending our relationship with the president Azziz Bougja,” Blick said from Ghana yesterday.

Bougja, was re-elected for a two-year term. He defeated Uganda’s Paul Sigombe who has been his vice president since 2002.

UGU and the continental body have a strained relationship emanating from a disagreement on the organisation of last year’s CAR Cup qualifiers.
