NSSF has taken good move

EDITOR: I wish to comment on Ben Ssebuguzi's letter entitled “NSSF is pressing the wrong button” published recently. Ssebuguzi argues that NSSF is not right to lay off 400 of its employees because the youth need employment.

Much as there is rife unemployment, it is not the obligation of companies and organisations to accommodate employees just because they are doing a service to society.

I am sure the decision to lay off staff was reached after much consultation and evaluation of the organisation’s capacity to operate profitably and efficiently despite of this lay-off. Would Ssebuguzi rather NSSF used worker's interest to keep its staff employed? That would be unreasonable.
