CRANE Bank has started an expansion programme which includes installation of 30 Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) by mid 2003.
Mr. A. Kalan, senior manager international banking, said by end of this week, Crane Access outlets will have increased from the current 11 centres to 17 countrywide
“We target 100,000 subscribers by end of this year,” Kalan said.
The additional centres will include one at the Kobil Fuel station on Bombo Road, Makerere University, Bugolobi opposite the market, Garden City, Banda, Ndeeba and Kisementi.
“We have imported 20 new machines from a German company, and six have already been installed. We intend by end of this year to be the local bank with the largest network of ATM points in the country,” Kalan told The New Vision early this week in an interview.
Crane Bank, part of the Ruparelia Group of Companies, is also adding value to its ATM services by introducing other products such as SMS banking, electronic payment of utility bills and point of sales services.
The bank has ATMs on Market Street, Nakivubo Road, Nakulabye, Kabalagala, Speke Hotel, Kabira Country Club, Crane Bank Jinja and Entebbe International airport.
Ajay Kumar, assistant general manager Crane Bank, said since launching their first ATM facility in July last year, the bank has so far registered over 30,000 accounts on the Crane Access.
“We will be going for a big number, and we intend to build a network all over the country. Presently, apart from Kampala we are only in Jinja,” Kalan said.
Meanwhile the second draw in the Crane Access accounts promotion takes place tomorrow.
