THE rules, privileges and discipline committee of Parliament has summoned local government minister Jaberi Bidandi Ssali to explain why he expressed prejudicial opinion on issues before the committee, reports Cyprian Musoke.
They said if Bidandi is found to have truly uttered the statements, he should apologise before the committee or the committee would report him to the house for discipline.
Bidandi was recently quoted as saying if he were Kinobe, he also would not have hesitated to use a district grader to repair a road in his home town.He said he saw no sense in grilling Kinobe over the tractor, adding that the practice was everywhere.
“They (statements) affect the work of our committee. They are prejudicial and tantamount to contempt. He gave the committee a bad image.
If during proceedings a matter of contempt arises, the committee should call him as soon as possible,” Adolph Mwesigye, the lead counsel and chairman of the legal and parliamentary affairs committee, said.
