Stanbic Unveils Redone IPS Branch

The first of the Uganda Commercial Bank Limited (UCBL) branches to be connected onto the Stanbic Bank Uganda network, was officially opened at IPS Building on Parliament Avenue last Thursday.

The first of the Uganda Commercial Bank Limited (UCBL) branches to be connected onto the Stanbic Bank Uganda network, was officially opened at IPS Building on Parliament Avenue last Thursday.
Katili Mbathi, the Stanbic Bank Uganda managing director, said since they acquired a majority interest in UCBL about a year go, they have been involved in the process of merging and integrating the two banks into one entity.
“The IPS branch you have seen today is a true manifestation of the commitment of Stanbic Bank in Uganda. We took what was a run-down, cramped, stuffy branch and transformed it into a state of the art branch, which will stand up to any bank branch anywhere,” he said.
David Opio-Okello, the deputy governor Bank of Uganda officiated at the colourful event. Stanbic Uganda directors were led by chairman, Martin Aliker.
Katili said they had acquired larger premises to ease congestion in the banking hall and give customers a higher level of service.
“We have also introduced three ATMs at the side of the banking hall, which will enable our customers to have access to their money 24 hours a day. Customers will also have access to any of our ATMs which are currently located at Kampala Road, Lugogo showgrounds or Shoprite,” he said.
He said eventually all UCBL branches will get onto the Stanbic network. “We will also introduce new products into the market, which will meet the savings and credit requirements of customers,” he said. Ends
