Saint Mary’s College Kisubi Old Boys have initiated the construction of a swimming pool at the school.
A ground breaking ceremony for the construction of the 25 meter swimming pool was held Friday at the school.
The school’s headmaster Brother Mugerwa and chairman of the project Charles Mbire led the old boys on the first steps of a plan mooted in 1967, but was on and off until the early 90’s.
The eight lane swimming pool is estimated to cost $60,000 (sh112m).
“We are working on starting a website for the old boys,” Mbire said.
“Old boys from England and United States have started contributing to the project and will continue doing so.”
The pool complex sits on a 0.5 acre plot and includes the main pool (which is 25 metres) and a spectators’ terrace.
