THE chairman of the National Council for Children, the Rev. Fr. Louis Turyamureeba, has challenged district leaders in Mbarara to come up with policies that will effectively protect children against abuse, exploitation and violence, writes Martin Kiiza.

He made the remarks recently when he launched a goat and pig project for HIV/AIDS orphans in Kabiriizi at Birere sub-county headquarters.

Turyamureeba also proposed that children’s programmes be included in the district budget.

The function was organised by the Foundation for AIDS Orphaned Children.

Several orphans, including those heading families, got exotic goats for a cross-breeding project.
