Measles hit
KASESE — Women’s Day celebrations in Kitswamba sub-county were halted when Measles claimed three children on March 7. Sadrin Kabugho, Murungi Muhindo and Biira from Kiruli Primary School died at Kinyabwamba health centre. The LCI chairman Asumani Kibindi said eight people, most of them children, had died of Measles at the health centre in less than a week.

Police net
HOIMA — The Police recently arrested over 200 youth in a surprise operation to crack down on idlers. The majority of the victims were pupils and students picked from video halls during class hours. The pupils were cautioned and set free.

LC shuffles
Masindi — The LC5 chairperson, John N. Majara, recently reshuffled the district executive committee. He made the former vice chairperson Saverio Okeny secretary of finance, planning and administration and replaced him with Solomon Kahwa, former secretary for health.

Bigirwa says
BUSHENYI — The woman Member of Parliament Bernadette Bigirwa recently said President Yoweri Museveni should retire as a hero and statesman like Nelson Mandela and Julius Nyerere. She said those calling for a third term for Museveni want to throw him in problems. She said this during the Women’s Day celebrations at Mutara.
