AT LEAST 40 families have been displaced by Iganga town council in a bid to make way for the construction of a road, writes Vision Reporter.
The affected residents of Nabidonga A had been living in rented semi-permanent structures. Steven Magumba, the village chairman, said the council authorities wrote to the affected families a day before graders moved in to flatten the buildings to construct Abbey Mukwaya Road. The road runs from the revenue offices to Iganga Parents School.
“The town council never gave the people ample time to vacate. Most people are sleeping out in the cold,” Magumba said. Ends
