UGANDA’S only Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) is dead.
Charles Ocheng, 42, who has been the chief manager of the Audit department with the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), passed away on Sunday in Crystal Hotel on Bazaar Street in Tororo.
Ocheng had travelled to Tororo for a weekend but was found dead in the hotel room shortly after he had breakfast. A postmortem report from Mulago Hospital indicated that he died of heart failure.
The NWSC managing director, Dr. William Muhairwe, said Ocheng’s death is a great loss to his organisation.
Speaking on Tuesday at a requiem mass held at All Saints Cathedral Nakasero in Kampala, Muhairwe said, “Ocheng has been the only Certified Fraud Examiner in the Uganda.
“He has been one of the best managers at NWSC who made both the organisation and its employees win.”
Ocheng, buried yesterday at his home village at Kisoko, Tororo, is said to have been a highly trained auditor, who also qualified in budgeting for the public sector and CFE in 1997 from Harvard University.
