Lt. Gen Salim Saleh, a member of the Presidential Peace Team, has commended Maj. Gen. Ali Bamuze for his patience during the period when he negotiated peace with the Government on behalf of former UNRF II rebels.
Saleh said despite the fact that the Government promised heaven to the former UNRF II during the signing of the agreement, not even 5% of the promises have been fulfilled.
Addressing the Northern Dialogue workshop in Gulu recently, Saleh said the Government is committed to fulfilling its promises to Bamuze though still faced with some problems.
He urged LRA chief Joseph Kony to look at Bamuze, a former UNRF II chairman, as a role model for peace in the northern region.
The meeting was attended by members of Parliament from the sub-region, representatives of national and international non-governmental organisations operational in northern Uganda, RDCs and LC5 chairpersons of all districts in the north among other dignitaries.
Bamuze moved delegates at the workshop when he said that he agreed to come out of the bush because of the love he has for the country.
The State minister for sports, Henry Oryem, commended Bamuze for his positive move towards peace in the region and urged Joseph Kony and his rebels to emulate him (Bamuze).
Oryem promised Bamuze land if he wants to settle. Ends
