A female scribe with CBS Radio was wooed by an MP she had gone to interview. This happened on May 8, when the scribe (names withheld) went to the MP’s offices in town at 5:00pm, the time given for the interview.
When she showed up, the youthful MP from Buganda said he had little time for the interview. About eight minutes into the interview, the MP said the major issue to be discussed was the possibility of them going out together.
“My dear, interview aside, let me ask you whether you have a husband or not. Your beauty has overwhelmed me,” he said to the girl, who assured him there was no man in her life. This answer gave the MP confidence. The scribe asked why he wanted to know and he replied that he did not want to interfere in ‘occupied constituencies.’
The MP then proposed they should go out for a drink. They left the office and the MP told the scribe to enter his car. Her acceptance to sit in the vehicle made the MP think he had scored, so he decided to head for his residence, 10km from the city centre.
On reaching Nateete, the scribe asked where they were going for the drink. The MP said that they were going to his residence. She asked the MP to let her out of the car she would shout that she was being kidnapped. As the MP persisted, the girl shouted, ‘someone is kidnapping me’ and the MP stopped. Ashamed, he told her to get out of his car and abused her: “Imagine a girl of your age to fear doing a mature act with a man like me. I was going to save you from the news searching suffering and I would possibly have married you, you have no vision and mission in life.” The scribe threatened to expose him and told her friends.
