The Sunday Vision recently reported that some of the mongoose at Mweya Safari lodge have lost their wild behaviour as they frequently get into contact with human beings at the garbage pits.

MUK protests
Makerere University Environment Management Association (MUEMA), a students association has attacked government over the construction of a supermarket by shoprite at Lugogo.
Victor Onen, a member of the association, said government was contradicting itself by ordering Kampala City Council to demolish houses in the wetlands and approve construction of a supermarket on a green belt.
Onen was speaking at the celebration of the World Environment Day at Makerere last Saturday.

POLLY, the young parrot who was recovered from suspected traffickers on Lubowa hill, Entebbe Road has began flying on her own.

THE Uganda Wildlife Society (UWS) last week convened a workshop for civil society organisations, which culminated into forming a national forum for debating issues surrounding the River Nile.
Irene Makumbi, a senior researcher of UWS said the efforts were initiated under the auspices of the Nile Basin Discourse formed two years ago.
The World Conservation Union, Wide Wildlife Fund and the World Bank initiated formation of the Nile Basin Discourse.
Makumbi said there was need for organisations to get engaged in discussing the Nile agreements and promote development and conservation.
