ARCHBISHOP Livingstone Mpalanyi Nkoyooyo is ready to enthrone the Muhabura Diocese bishop-elect when the situation allows, the High Court on Wednesday heard.

“The Archbishop of the Province of the Church of Uganda is ready and willing to consecrate and enthrone the bishop-elect of the See of Muhabura Diocese, the Reverend Canon David Sebuhinja, once there is peace in the diocese,” Yusuf Kagumire, a Kampala advocate, told High Court Judge Rubby Opio Aweri.

Kagumire is representing Nkoyooyo against a case in which Muhabura Diocese Christians accused him of refusing to consecrate and enthrone Sebuhinja.

They also accuse Nkoyooyo of unjustifiably taking over the affairs and control of their diocese.

Kagumire also opposed an application for an injunction restraining Nkoyooyo from taking over the affairs of the diocese until the court disposes of the case.

Through Babigumira and Company Advocates, the Christians want court to compel the Archbishop to consecrate and enthrone the bishop-elect without any further delay.

They told court that the College of Bishops elected Sebuhinja following his proper nomination.
