Uganda to tap biodiversity
KAMPALA — Ugandan scientists are to participate in an ambitious new project ‘Conservation and Sustainable Management of Below Ground Biodiversity’ - with funding from the Global Environment Facility or GEF, and overall coordination of CIAT's Tropical Soil Biology and Fertility Institute.
This new international initiative to tap below-ground biodiversity was developed with input from Uganda over a period of five years. Through the project, Uganda will develop improved methods for conserving and managing the extraordinarily diverse community of soil organisms.

NGO formed
KAMPALA — Four Makerere University students have formed an NGO to fight degradation of the environment.
They are Victor Onen, Gore Goffin, Joseph Kirule and Mary Arineitwe who are Bachelor of Environment Management students.
Goffin said: “We have to bring to the attention of people that environment is a resource, which we inherited and have a duty to hand it over to our children.’’
