THE new Minister of State for Information, James Nsaba Buturo, has said radio talk shows known as ebimeeza are good and should be encouraged. He said he would not ban them.
“It is a process we should encourage,” he said after appearing before the parliamentary committee on appointments for interviews on Tuesday.
However, he added, “It’s a very healthy situation so long as there is social responsibility.”
On press freedom, he said it was right for the press to have access to Government information.
“If you want the media to be active you have to provide information,” he said. He pledged to have dialogue with the media workers.
He pledged to revamp the poorly-equipped Radio Uganda and Uganda Television so that they could favourably compete with other stations.
Jennifer Namuyangu, the Minister of State for Industry, pledged to promote small-scale industries.
