THE Kyabazinga, Henry Wako Muloki, has warned pregnant women against clinging to the old culture of giving birth in plantations instead of using modern facilities.
Muloki was recently inaugurating a maternity wing and several developmental projects for Jinja central division in Jinja Municipality.
He said some pregnant mothers refuse to go for antenatal check-ups in well-facilitated clinics and instead give birth in homes which are in most cases unhygienic.
Muloki said the practice puts their lives and that of the newly-born-babies in danger.
He advised the Basoga to practice family planning.
He hailed the Government for improving the health sector and urged communities to take good care of government facilities.
Flanked by the kingdom prime minister, Eng. Dan Batuwa, Muloki appealed to health workers to observe professional ethics and ensure hard work.
Muloki also toured the new Jinja Women Central Division Catering and Tailoring Centre.
