JINJA district authorities have resolved to spend part of the funds received under the local government development programme (LGDP) on provision of safe drinking water in schools.
The LC5 chairman, Fred Gume, on Tuesday told a meeting of primary school headteachers at Bugembe Lukiiko hall that sh17.5m was injected in the project to install water tanks in seven primary schools in the first phase.
“School children especially those in the primary section have always found difficulty in accessing safe drinking water but we hope this initiative will go along way in solving the problem,” he said.
