PART time spin bowler Kenneth Legesi brought Africa CC to a halt, picking up a match winning three wickets as Wanderers won their Castle Lager League tie by 94 runs on Sunday.
Legesi hit 38 runs and picked three for 11 and Tendo Mbazzi three for 27 as ACC, chasing 178 to win, crumbled at 83 runs at Lugogo.
Promising youngster Hamza Saleh stroked an unbeaten 21 as the eventual winners piled 177/4 in the allotted 35 overs in the rain-affected game.
Kenneth Kamyuka pushed up the total after a slow start with his second half-century, hitting 66 from 70 deliveries.
At Kyambogo oval, Nile CC had another reason to smile after a 39 run defeat to newcomers Kutchhi Madu. The youthful players looked overjoyed in their new jerseys donated by Interfreight Limited Company.
“It is the beginning of good things for Nile. We applaud our sponsors Interfreight for the jerseys and we promise them good performance in the league,” captain Arthur Nuwagaba said.
Kutchhi opted to bat first and managed 160/7 with man-of-match Lalji Velji knocking a brilliant 40 .
Lalji returned with the ball, and got figures of (4/19) and Nitin Mavji (4/26).
At Entebbe oval, Premier did not turn up for their third tie of the league giving a walk over to Pakland CC.
Maruti are top of the table with 17 points from four games, followed by Wanderers with 14 and Kutchhi with 12.
