Soccer enthusiasts in northern Uganda will enjoy action when the Zone III mini league kicks off July 4 in Gulu. Football teams from Pader, Kitgum, Lira, Apac and Gulu are expected to compete in the league were the best team will qualify for the regional Super Mini League. Security is guaranteed, according to the organisers.

BOXING

LIGHT welterweight Sadat Tebazalwa will be the sole flag bearer for Uganda in the World Amateur Boxing Championship next week. Sadat, the Zone Five champion, is sponsored by Uganda Olympic Committee for the event due in Thailand July 12-21.

OUR Lady of Good Counsel will be gearing for more Picfare School’s Badminton titles this Saturday. The school, that managed to lift the U-16 girls’ title, had also qualified for the U-18 finals and was waiting for the winner between Aga Khan and Mariam High in the other semi. “We are going to concentrate on team events,” event coordinator Simon Mugabi said.

Division I side coach Frank ‘video’ Anyau says that he has developed strong interest for lower football teams more than ever before. The former Express caretaker said that two years as a coach at Makerere University has made him love school football adding that he hopes to end his career at school level.
