KCC starts crackdown
KAMPALA – The City Council (KCC) is to start crackdown on illegally set up schools in the district, Bagunywa Nkalubo, the secretary for education has said. She was presenting a keynote address at a workshop for political and educational managers in the district. The workshop centred on the role of school management committees.

Mpigi is now municipality
MPIGI – The town council has been granted a municipal status. Mayor Joseph Lumu Mazuuku announced recently that the elevation from a town council would result into joining Mutuba I parish with the original 6 parishes. He said arrangements were being made to launch the new municipality.

Man held on murder
KAYUNGA – The Police in have arrested David Bazatoka, 26, on allegations that he killed Gabriel Okowo, 56. Police said Bazatoka, a roast pock seller in Kitimbwa, was being held in connection with the murder of Okowo, whom he accused of eating his pock worth sh100. Okowo allegedly failed to pay.
