SOROTI county assistant chief administrative officer Andrew Collins Akorimo has been suspended and asked to hand over office within three days.

The suspension is based on allegations of drunkenness, absconding from duty and failure to account for sh8.8m.

“I am suspending you from office with effect from August 1,” the letter singed by the chief administrative officer, George William Omuge, read in part.

The letter dated August 5 said Akorimo had been been absent from office for three months.

The CAO also claimed in his letter that Akorimo had taken to drunkenness even during official hours, contrary to the Public Service ethics and code of conduct.

Omuge also said the district would recover the advances given to Akorimo from his current half-pay salary.
