MPs resume
KAMPALA — Parliament resumes sitting this afternoon to consider committee reports on the ministries’ budget allocations for the 2003/2004 financial year. A circular on Friday by the Clerk to Parliament, Aeneas Tandekwire, said the House would also sit every Monday afternoon and Friday morning to dispose of the budget by September 1, 2003.

Banga plea
MUKONO — Former LC5 chairman Kanakulya Banga has asked court stop the sale of his land that was attached by court bailiffs. Kanakulya lost an election petition to Francis Lukooya Mukoome over academic qualifications. Lukooya got sh25m as costs.

Minister raps
PALLISA — State minister for trade and industry Janat Namuyangu has condemned parents in Pallisa district for forcefully marrying off their under-age daughters. She said many children were being married away for financial gain. She was recently officiating at a function at Kabwangasi Secondary School.
