APAC — The district needs about sh24b for the construction of boreholes and other infrastructure. Deputy water officer Nicholas Okwang recently said the district would get 200 boreholes this year. He added that the establishment of boreholes would help in relieve the problem of lack of water.

70 kids dead
PADER — A measles outbreak recently struck Acholibur sub-county, health inspectors have said. Acholibur chairman Charles Obura said over 70 children had died and 20 were still infected with the disease. He said the disease had affected Acholibur and Omot parishes.

LIRA — The national books festival week has opened in Lira with a call to participants to develop a reading and writing culture. The resident district commissioner, Charles Egou Engwau, made the remarks while officiating at the function at Lira Public School recently.
