UGANDA’s only cargo plane, a Hercules C130, operated by Uganda Air Cargo (UAC) may not fly again, following the Ministry of Finance resolution not to pay for its repairs.

The plane, which has persistently broken down due to mechanical problems over the last 20 years, has cost over sh10b in repairs with less than sh3b gains.
The Secretary to the Treasury, Chris Kassami, told Parliament on Monday that the plane was a liability to the State.

“I have known this plane and its problems ever since I have been here. I can authoritatively tell you that it has been more of a liability than an asset to your country,” he said.
He recommended that the plane be sold or given away as it could not fetch even half of the money that bought it.
