Racism may rear its ugly head soon

Speaking as a Kenyan, whose patrilineal grandmother (RIP) was Ugandan, I am conscious of the irony of the colonial borders that defines our nationality. My own children are Ugandan citizens by birth, unless they choose to renounce it for some other national identity. The big picture of the beauty queen saga is reflected in the mirror of prejudices that remain in our society. They may remain hidden, until alas when prejudice rears its ugly head in the heinous act of racism! Even worse defined as black-on-black, ethnic intolerance or "reverse racism". How many times do we hear people we know speak about how 'so and so' cannot marry into 'our family' because they have 'foreign blood,” Or cannot lead us because their blood is ‘tainted’ by foreign heritage. Shame on all of you who claim to be on the higher end of the food chain if you hold such prejudices and even act them out.
