THE Japanese Government is to open a visa section in Uganda, Tatsuya Miki, the outgoing charge d’affaires, said Wednesday, reports Okodan Akwap.
“This shall increase trade between Japan and Uganda. It shall also reduce the challenges that all Ugandan travellers to Japan go through before making their journeys,” he told guests at his farewell reception at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel.
Miki said Uganda and Japan have strengthened cooperation in several priority areas of human resources development, health and sanitation, basic economic infrastructure and agricultural development.
“My country enjoys good trade relations with Uganda. However, more work needs to be done to increase exports from Uganda to Japan,” the envoy said.
Yoshitaka Kitazawa succeeds Miki who has been in Uganda since September 2001.Ends
