Nakawa court has summoned Kampala deputy Town Clerk, James Sseggane over the General Parts city plot wrangle.
Sseggane was named at the heart of an ownership row between General Parts (U) Ltd and Middle North Agencies over Plot M459 Nakawa Industrial Area.
The proprietors of Shumuk Uganda Ltd, the owners of Middle North Agencies, sued Haruna Ssemakula, the owner of General Parts, over violence and criminal trespass on the plot.
Thursday’s summon came after Ssemakula and his lawyer, Moses Kuguminkiriza, claimed that Sseggane was avoiding to testify because he and the city mayor had written contradictory letters regarding the same plot.
“We are developing a feeling that he will not come to court unless he is compelled,†Kuguminkiriza said.
Prosecutor Andrew Gawaya had told court that Sseggane could not testify because he had gone to Kalangala to bury a colleague.
A week before, Ssegane had been reported out of the country after failing to appear in court.
In another development, a key witness in the case disappeared from the court on Thursday without explanation.
